Advetum Wealth - Management Dashboard

In 2024, we at Twowords developed a groundbreaking wealth management dashboard that redefined buy-to-let property management for Adventum and its clients. As a first-of-its-kind product in the industry, the primary challenge lay in understanding the business and designing the processes of transforming it digitally to eliminate the middleman—the property manager, ultimately saving clients both time and money.

the Industry?

What Prompted us to Re-Imagine the Industry?

The buy-to-let industry traditionally operates by assigning each client a relationship manager to guide them through the process. While this method highlights the importance of human interaction, it often results in significant inefficiencies, particularly evident in the countless spreadsheets scattered across both the client’s and manager’s systems. Furthermore, a middleman is usually required to make documents and investments easier to understand—a practice Adventum found unsatisfactory.

So Much Yet So Less….

Spreadsheets Disrupted the Core Principles of a Consultancy Business

Connection

Disconnected systems compel individuals to extract insights and transfer data in a cumbersome manner manually.

Emotion

Spreadsheets lack the emotional support essential to a consultant’s role. Also, The sheer # of sheets leaves users feeling overwhelmed.

Context

Decision-makers require more context than just raw numbers, but spreadsheets provide minimal or no contextual information.

The Process

How Did we Make a Difference?

Understanding how HNIs Live

The products' target user group was identified as High-Net-Worth Individuals (HNIs). Through an observation inquiry, it became evident that HNIs have distinct lifestyles, making it essential to understand and incorporate their unique needs into the product. This approach ensured that the software provided a truly consultative and personalised experience.

Designing UI That Talks

A key insight revealed that users highly value conversations that carry emotional and intellectual depth. Incorporating this element was crucial to ensure the software provided meaningful and worthwhile interactions.

HNIs Value Prioritization, So Does Our Designs

After extensive research and testing, the information architecture was finalised through exercises conducted on prototypes with the current clientele. The software ensures the right information is displayed in the right place, eliminating users needing to rely on any external tool (such as a calculator). Everything they need to calculate is readily accessible, like this widget that provides growth data alongside current investment details.

Data "Vizard" Saving a HNI's Valuable Time

A significant insight about HNIs is their emphasis on time efficiency. To cater to this, the software prioritized delivering information through charts and graphs, enabling them to quickly identify patterns and gain insights—a task typically outsourced. This approach effectively saves them both time and money, which they highly value.

Designing For a New Mental Model

We developed a mental model aimed at transforming the user’s perception of the company’s operations. The software now assumes the role of a manager, which users would typically outsource. As a result, any tasks that were previously routed through a property manager are now handled directly by Adventum via the software.

My Journey from a Designer to a Real Estate Expert

To create a real estate consultant, we first had to step into the role ourselves. It began with studying over 20 documents and researching the deal flow process, culminating in analysing a client’s case study. By the project's end, we gained real estate expertise and successfully designed a consultant solution.

The Power of Prototypes

How Did We Manage Expectations?

With stakeholders at various levels and a separate development team, aligning everyone was a challenge. To integrate all parties into the design process, we leveraged prototyping not just for validation but also as a tool for ideation. Starting with high-fidelity prototypes allowed everyone to visualise the product, yes, this required additional time and resources, but it was essential to accommodate every stakeholder’s input. These prototypes helped identify features and facilitated testing. Ultimately, three iterations of the prototype were created to refine ideas and validate the product, meeting everyone's expectations.

Making Moves

1st

100%

adoption among existing clients.

The software, a first-of-its-kind in the industry, achieved 100% adoption among 150 existing clients, leading to the generation of over 1,000 reports in its first month. Although the admin functionality isn’t detailed here, it significantly boosted efficiency, saving the team an average of 300+ hours monthly. This enhanced productivity enables the company to scale operations, anticipating the ability to manage 50 additional clients without increasing capacity.
